Greetings SouthCoast Groundworkers!

We’ve been busy setting up the trust and laying the foundations for a successful Green Team this summer. In New Bedford, we’ve been working with Love the Ave and the Brownfield Area Wide Planning (AWP) Team, which held a combined community meeting on Tuesday June 13th. Kathy McCabe, the lead planner hired for the AWP effort showed the project results for the brownfields, as Carolina Carvajal, the team’s  landscape architect, translated for the Latino community members at the meeting. Corinn Williams and Brian Pastori from the CEDC then presented an update on the Love the Ave activities and received positive feedback from all corners of the room. Maura Ramsey, our new Executive Director introduced herself and the new Groundwork Southcoast Trust and took the baton for the implementation of the on the ground proposals brought up under the Love the Ave umbrella and during the AWP process. We look forward to a productive summer working on the Ave and in the Flint with our partners in Fall River!
