Meet the Summer 2024 Green Team!

Meet the GWSC 2024 Summer Green Team! This stellar group of young adults has been working to make our community a greener, safer, and more connected place this summer. In addition to urban farming, community engagement, and citizen science work, Green Team has been learning about communications and marketing. In fact, each Green Teamer wrote their bio (below) and designed their graphics using Canva! 🎉
Alana is from New Bedford, is a Green Leader, and has been a part of GWSC for 2 years. She enjoys gardening and plant research in her free time. She attends Bristol County Agricultural High School in Dighton where she studies landscaping. She plans on doing something involving horticulture in the future, and has aspirations of attending college at SUNY Cobleskill in upstate New York.
Amir Antunes, a 2-year member of the Green Team, grew up in New Bedford, MA, within the area GWSC works in. He attends Bristol Community College as a freshman, and is studying business and management. At work, Amir enjoys building equipment we use during our farming and stewardship work. Outside of work, Amir enjoys playing video games and spending time with family.

Jayliz is from New Bedford and has been on Green Team for a year. She attends Bristol County Agricultural High School where she majors in Landscape Design and Contracting. Her studies focus on landscaping and design, skills she utilizes frequently at GWSC. She enjoys developing new skills and feels as though she is able to make a change in her community. Jayliz grew up in an EJ community and wants to be able to help others through the struggle while sharing her story to uplift others. Jayliz plans on becoming a psychologist in the future to help those struggling with substance abuse.
